We worked closely with Skilsaw's fantastic product management team and in the field with real users to identify critical pain points to address. Extracting key design elements from the heritage of Skilsaw's worm drive circular saws and applying it to the completely different form factor of the reciprocating saw was a key challenge we iterated on.

Identified pain points from reciprocating saw users in the construction industry.

Engineering CAD provided by Skilsaw team to serve as spatial constraints.

Initial UX and touchpoint ideation.

Concept designs, visualizations, and initial CAD surfacing.

Modular 3D prints were created to test ergonomics.

Weighted "looks like" appearance model created for final design sign-off.
The Skilsaw SPT44-10 15 amp reciprocating saw made a smashing debut. Beyond expanding the legacy brand's offerings, it beat out the incumbent competition with the lowest vibration on the market due to the patented Buzzkill technology. Skilsaw also launched the SPT44A-00, a low price point variant with much success. The launch was such a success that Chervon, the manufacturing partner, acquired Skilsaw to expand their growing portfolio.
